The driver of a 1998 model ran a red light while driving at a high rate of speed east on Westminster. The vehicle struck a 1990 model driven by Richard Lauvao, 43, of Santa Ana who was traveling north on Euclid. The collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control toward the northeast corner of the intersection.
Lauvao was partially ejected and died at the scene.
The driver got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect has not been identified.

Eric Guerrero, of Santa Ana, died Tuesday as a result of his injuries at Miller Children's Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Officers found Guerrero lying on a front lawn of a residence with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Paramedics took him to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in critical condition.
Guerrero's death brings Santa Ana's gang-related homicides in 2007 to 17. There were 18 gang-related homicides in 2006. Anyone with information should call the Santa Ana Police Department at 714-245-8648.

The search continues for a motorcyclist who was one of three drivers involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian in Huntington Beach, police said. They did not know if the woman was killed when struck the first time or as the result of any of the other collisions.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered Rosa in front of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Rosa was immediately transported to a local hospital where she, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries. Robbery appears to have been the motive.

Two people were fatally shot early Sunday morning during a house party, police said. The party at a duplex in North Long Beach. At about 12:25 a.m., three individuals walked up to a man standing in front of the home and opened fire, said Officer Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department. The victim, described only as a man in his 20s, was hit multiple times with rounds from a handgun and was taken to a hospital, where he died. A second man at the party, also believed to be in his 20s, was also hit by the gunfire and died from the injuries.
