Ocracoke Island Realty

Ocracoke , NC

lat:35.107665619352574

OI Realty has the most extensive listing of homes and condos for sale, as well as well over one hundred houses and condos for rent. They aren't the only source for sales and rentals but I'd guess they have at least half of the market and probably more. I've had no issues renting from them and have done so for three years in a row.

The wild horses used to run free on Ocracoke but due to their increasing numbers and variety of other good reasons they were corraled years ago into the pony pens - now they have plenty of acres to run in, and are cared for and fed. The pony pens provides a place for the public to view the horses (when they are being cooperative!). Across the street from the pony pens is a beach access with port-o-potties.

Tradewinds is the best tackle shop on the island - stop here for your bait, ice, tackle, gear, beach stuff, souveniers, etc. The owners Alan & Melinda will give out free advice on the best bait to use and what's biting. Check out the daily fishing report at their website. For the moment, you can still access the beach with your 4wd to get to the best fishing spots and the points at Ocracoke inlet and Hatteras inlet. There are some groups trying to block access to off-road vehicles - please refer to the website www.savehatteras.com
